How to use Coconut Oil (Before or After Washing)?

Its no secret that I absolutely LOVE coconut oil, well click on the link below to see why I choose to use coconut oil as a pre-poo and why it is such a critical part of the girls' hair regimen...

THE NATURAL HAVEN: Reader Questions - Coconut Oil Before Washing?: Coconut oil appears to be the flavour of the day and specifically coconut oil's role in hygral fatigue (Damage due to swelling and contraction of hair due to uptake and loss of water).

How do you use coconut oil?

  1. I use extra virgin coconut oil (EVCO) on my daughter's hair as a mixture with her shampoo and conditioner. EVCO is also mixed with organic shea butter to be used as a daily moisturizer for her hair. I especially use that moisturizer to moisturize her edges and hair ends.
I use it on my hair as a prepoo (hot oil treatment), shine for the hair, when I deep condition with a conditioner and to remove makeup :-) It is also great for me during the winter for my skin because it gets dry.

    1. Wow, so you pretty much use it for everything! I also use it on the ends mixed with JBCO. Never thought to use it as a make-up remover which is a really great idea since it is the same consistency as Albolene (moisturizing cleanser to remove make-up) and I never thought to use it on the skin, I will certainly have to try that during the winter months (I have heard about putting it on their face but that would totally break my face out).

  2. First, I'd like to say that your baby girls are so cute. Second, I guess we have something in common. I'm also a huge fan of all products that come from coconut especially of course, its oil. Like Sdestra, I also use coconut oil for my hair and skin. I really love the feel of my skin and hair every time I take a shower. Been doing this for so many years now. I have a naturally wavy hair and coconut oil really makes my hair have its natural wave and bounce. Though I'm using a different brand, I still believe that what we're using have similar coconut oil benefits. And oh by the way, I sometimes use coconut oil for cooking. I bet you'll love the smell of your dish once you do ;)

    1. Thank you so much! I am really going to have to try coconut oil on my skin and while cooking! I love it on the hair so much I am too selfish to give it any other role, lol. BTW, thanks for the link. :)
